In November, The Cottages at Yankee Trace, a Charles Simms development, closed out the fall season at Yankee Trace’s famed Fish Fry dinner! Our seating was for 20 people, who all enjoyed the delicious batter fried haddock, French fries, and classic slaw. It just so happened to be one homeowner’s special day; so we joined in singing Happy Birthday to Ed Baranyi, of Legendary Way. It was “all you can eat” fish, with no end in sight! Thank goodness we saved room for dessert, because Ed’s daughter-in-law, Sally, brought a beautiful cake in his honor. While not one of our official Home Owners’ Association quarterly social events, it was yet another excuse to meet up for dinner and great company. We spent the evening getting to know each other better, and fostering friendships with neighbors!

Incidentally, the Golf Club at Yankee Trace offers lunch during the week; seasonal dinner events, such as the fall/winter “Fish Fry” and spring/summer “Jazz on the Green”; and sumptuous brunches served on Sundays year-round! Voted Dayton’s Best Golf Course, Yankee Trace Golf Club offers services designed to make guests feel as if they are visiting a fine private club.

December brought our annual Home Owners’ Association meeting, held at the Yankee Trace Community Room. Holiday music filled the air and refreshments were provided by the Social Committee. Charles H. Simms, President, gave an update on activity, with 57 homes sold, and only 9 remaining. Bronwyn Graham-Duteil reported on the year’s popular events organized by the Social Committee. She invited interested home owners to help out with next year’s events.

Elections for Board members followed; after the votes were counted, the 2015 HOA Board was welcomed: President, Bill Love; Vice President, Peter Koumas; Secretary, Dennis Baranyi; Treasurer, Marti Gardner; and Charles Simms and Dennis O’Grady splitting a two year term.
