Can you fall in love with a house, a developer, and a salesperson all at the same time? It happened to us. We were in town for a job interview, excited about the possibility of moving back close to family in Dayton. But having previously lived in Chicago, Minneapolis, and most recently Denver, we were frankly a little uncertain about living in Dayton. While in town, we decided we ought to check into our housing options. Our online searches did not make us hopeful. Until we drove down Second Street and saw the “Model Open” sign. We decided to drop in.

Sharon met us at the Brownstones at 2nd porch with a warm welcome. She walked us inside and took our breath away. We didn’t even need for Sharon to say anything, because the townhouse was gorgeous! As she took us around, explaining each detail, we fell in love. We’ve previously bought and sold four houses in different parts of the country. And we’ve never ended an initial showing by saying, “Where do we sign?”13916163705289_brownstone-sm

Then came the tricky part. The process of finalizing the new job took a while. We had to sell our house in Colorado, and were not sure when we could move. One townhouse became available, and then another, but we weren’t ready. Through it all, however, Sharon was persistent in working to get us into one of the Brownstones at 2nd. And an unusual thing happened, we made a friend out of the person selling us our house! Again, a first!

Finally, we closed on the townhouse, and finally got to meet Charlie Simms, who personally took us on our walk-through. It was a pleasure to thank him not only for our new home, but for his leadership in re-developing downtown Dayton. We’re thrilled to be living in the midst of all the exciting progress in our neighborhood. And as the townhouses fill up, Sharon continues to cultivate the sense of community in our growing little group of neighbors. It doesn’t seem like part of her job, but boy are we loving it! Transitions can be hard, but this experience has been truly a blessing and a pleasure.
